Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan was taken back to prison on Friday after spending a few hours overnight at a hospital for medical tests, a spokesman for his party said.
Khan, 73, was shifted to a hospital in Islamabad early Friday following a Supreme Court order issued earlier this week directing authorities to move him from jail for a medical examination, reports NDTV.
Khan served as Pakistan’s prime minister from 2018 to 2022 before being removed through a no-confidence vote during a political crisis marked by tensions between his government and the powerful military establishment.
His arrest in 2023 triggered nationwide protests in May.
