The government has formed a Cabinet Committee on Fertiliser Affairs to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.
A gazette notification signed by Cabinet Division Additional Secretary M Humayun Kabir was issued on Tuesday with the approval of President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The committee, which will come into effect immediately, has been formed by Minister for Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare Professor Abu Zafar Mohammad Zahid Hossain as its convener.
The other members of the committee are Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam.
“The committee will provide necessary advice to the agriculture ministry after monitoring the nation-wide fertilizer collection, distribution and dealer appointment activities. The ministry will provide secretarial support to the committee”, said the gazette notification.
