People from all walks of life paid respect to the martyrs of the Liberation War.
Lakshmipur marks start with 31-gun salute
Lakshmipur observed Independence and National Day with due dignity. At sunrise, 5:55am, a 31-gun salute at the District Collectorate premises marked the beginning of the day’s programmes.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and leaders of the Freedom Fighters’ Council, along with political, social and cultural organisations, placed floral wreaths at the Liberation War memorial.
Prayers were also offered at the mass grave in Bagbari, seeking eternal peace for the martyrs. Various organisations held cultural and social programmes throughout the day.
Meherpur pays tribute at Martyrs Memorial
The day began with floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial at College intersection shortly after sunrise.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Enamul Kabir and Member of Parliament from Meherpur-1 Taj Uddin Khan paid homage on behalf of the administration.
Later, the Superintendent of Police and officials from different departments, including the Press Club, educational institutions, social and cultural organisations, and Freedom Fighters’ Command, placed wreaths. A prayer session followed. The district administration organised various events throughout the day.
Chandpur observes tribute at ‘Ongikar’
National flags were hoisted on all government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings at sunrise.
A 31-gun salute marked the beginning of the day. Floral tributes were then paid at the ‘Ongikar’ monument by the Deputy Commissioner, police officials, and various organisations.
At 8am, national flag hoisting, anthem performance, parade and display programmes were held at Chandpur Stadium.
Later, freedom fighters and families of martyrs were honoured at a reception and discussion programme.
Khulna pays homage at Gallamari
In Khulna, floral tributes were paid at the Gallamari Memorial at dawn. The Freedom Fighters’ Council first placed wreaths, followed by BNP leaders, City Corporation officials, divisional administration, and various political, social and cultural organisations.
Later, a parade was held at Khulna District Stadium at 8:30am. A naval warship exhibition took place at the IWTA jetty at noon.
Tangail remembers at mass grave memorial
Tangail began the day with a 31-gun salute and flag hoisting. Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haq placed wreaths at the mass grave memorial.
The Superintendent of Police, District Council Administrator and other officials also paid tribute. Various organisations, including political parties and media associations placed wreaths at the Shaheed Smriti Municipal Park.
A parade and display programme was held at Shaheed Maruf Stadium at 9am. Hospitals, prisons, and welfare centres served improved meals to residents.
Nilphamari pays tribute at ‘Smriti Omlan’
Nilphamari marked the day with a 31-gun salute at dawn. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nairuzzaman placed wreaths at the ‘Smriti Omlan’ Independence Memorial at Chowrangi Mor.
The Superintendent of Police and officials from different departments, political leaders, journalists, teachers and students also paid tribute. Flag hoisting, discussions, prayers and cultural events were held throughout the district.
Chuadanga holds parade at Old Stadium
In Chuadanga, the day began with wreath-laying at the Martyrs Memorial. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamal Hossain and MP Masud Parvez Russell led the tribute along with police and administration officials.
Later, a parade was held at the Old Stadium. The district administration organised various programmes throughout the day.
Pirojpur pays tribute at Bhagirathi Square
In Pirojpur, the programme began with a 31-gun salute at the Martyrs Memorial at Bhagirathi Square. Deputy Commissioner Abu Saeed, the Superintendent of Police, and other officials placed wreaths.
Later, a parade and reception for freedom fighters were held at the district stadium. People from all levels of society paid tribute.
Netrokona salutes at memorial plaques
Netrokona observed the day with a 31-gun salute at dawn. Deputy Commissioner and police officials placed wreaths at the memorial plaques.
Freedom Fighters’ Council, cultural organisations and educational institutions also paid respect. A parade, march past and physical displays were held at the district stadium.
Kishoreganj hosts colourful parade
Kishoreganj began the day with a 31-gun salute. Various organisations placed wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial. A colourful parade was held at the stadium, featuring religious recitations, balloon releases and the release of white doves symbolising peace. A prayer session was also held.
Jamalpur honours fallen heroes
In Jamalpur, the day started with a 31-gun salute at the Freedom Fighters’ Council premises. Floral tributes were paid at the Shaheed Freedom Fighters’ Memorial. District administration, police, and various organisations participated.
A parade, display programmes, and receptions for freedom fighters and families of martyrs were also held at the stadium.
Independence Day celebrated in Bandarban
The great Independence and National Day was observed in Bandarban on Thursday with due respect and festivity.
Lawmaker Saching Prue Jerry led the wreath-laying at the Liberation War Memorial in Meghla, followed by local officials and representatives.
A programme at Bandarban Stadium featured flag hoisting, the national anthem, a parade, and student displays, where Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ara Rini took the salute.
Various organisations are also observing the day with different programmes.
