Preparations for Eid prayers at the National Eidgah in Dhaka are almost complete, with the venue ready to accommodate around 35,000 worshippers, officials said on Monday.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) administrator Md Abdus Salam confirmed the arrangements after inspecting the site.
The main Eid congregation is scheduled to begin around 8am, though timings may change if the weather is inclement.
Salam said comprehensive security measures are in place, including special arrangements for the Prime Minister’s safety.
VIPs will have designated prayer areas, while women will also be able to join the congregation.
Adequate lighting and fans have been installed across the ground, and air-conditioned sections are planned in some areas to counter the heat.
Mobile toilets and first aid facilities will be available, and contingency plans have been made for rain.
Worshippers are advised to follow the instructions issued by the organisers and avoid bringing prohibited items to ensure smooth entry.
Abdus Salam said, “The Prime Minister will participate in the Eid prayers at the National Eidgah this year, which is a source of joy for the residents of Dhaka. We invite citizens who wish to pray alongside the Tarique Rahman to arrive on time and follow security guidelines.”
Officials from DSCC accompanied the administrator during the inspection. All arrangements aim to ensure a safe, organised, and comfortable experience for participants.
