Bangladesh have secured a 2–0 lead in the three-match T20I series against the Netherlands, winning the second match by nine wickets to claim the series with one game remaining. The victory was powered by a brilliant all-round display from Nasum Ahmed and an unbeaten half-century from Tanzid Hasan Tamim.
After scoring 136 in the opening T20I, the Netherlands were restricted to just 103 in the second game at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, and Mustafizur Rahman bowled with discipline to dismantle the Dutch batting line-up. Nasum claimed three wickets, while Taskin and Mustafizur took two apiece, and Tanzid Hasan Sakib and Sheikh Mehedi Hasan picked up one each.
Chasing a modest target of 104, Bangladesh’s innings was anchored by Tanzid Hasan Tamim and captain Litton Das, supported by Parvez Hossain Emon. The openers put on 40 runs in 5.3 overs before Parvez was dismissed, after which Tanzid and Liton added an unbroken 64-run partnership. Tanzid remained unbeaten on 54 from 40 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes, while Liton contributed 18 from 18 deliveries. The victory came in the 13th over, with Tanzid smashing a six off Kyle Klein in the 14th over to seal the match.
Tanzid’s innings also saw him break the record for the most sixes by a Bangladeshi in a single T20I year. In the 12th over, he hit his 23rd six, surpassing Parvez Hossain’s previous record of 22. Earlier, in the ninth over, Tanzid had equalled Parvez’s record with a six over Max O’Dowd. This remarkable feat highlighted Bangladesh’s aggressive approach and dominance throughout the series.
The Netherlands struggled after losing the toss and being sent in to bat. Nasum claimed the early wickets of Max O’Dowd and Teja Nidamanuru in consecutive deliveries. The middle order, including Vikramjit Singh and Scott Edwards, could not recover as Taskin and Mustafizur applied pressure. Aryan Dat scored 30, while Shariz Ahmed made 12, but the Dutch side was all out for 103 in 17.3 overs.
With this dominant performance, Bangladesh also recorded their second-biggest T20I victory in terms of wickets and their third-largest in terms of balls remaining.
