Parvez Hossain Emon made a modest start to his Pakistan Super League (PSL) career, scoring 14 off 13 balls on debut for Lahore Qalandars. However, compatriot Mustafizur Rahman delivered with the ball as Lahore opened their campaign with a commanding 69-run victory over Hyderabad Kingsmen.
Batting at number four, the left-hander showed glimpses of intent, striking a six off Marnus Labuschagne. But his innings was cut short when he was caught at long-on off Riley Meredith.
Despite his early departure, Lahore posted an imposing 199 for 6 after being sent in to bat. Fakhar Zaman led the charge with 53 from 39 balls, while Haseebullah Khan added an unbeaten 40 off 28 deliveries to strengthen the total.
Defending 200, Hyderabad Kingsmen began steadily, reaching 48 for 2 in the powerplay. However, their innings lost direction soon after.
Mustafizur struck in his first spell, conceding just 9 runs in two overs. He removed Irfan Khan with a trademark slower delivery, inducing a catch on the final ball of his over.
The Bangladesh pacer finished with figures of 1 for 19 from four overs, maintaining control even in the latter stages. Hyderabad never recovered from the slowdown and were eventually bowled out for 130 on the final delivery of the innings.
