As the National Cricket League (NCL) four-day competition is set to begin in the first week of October, preliminary squads have already been formed for some divisions, with final squads yet to be confirmed.
Sylhet Division, the 2024-25 NCL champions, have retained much of last season’s core in their preliminary squad, with veteran Mushfiqur Rahim and national team players Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Amite Hasan and Zakir Hasan among the 30 names.
A Sylhet Division official confirmed the development to TIMES of Bangladesh on condition of anonymity.
“Yes, we have received the preliminary squad from the selectors. Mushfiqur, along with Khaled, Ebadot, Zakir and Amite, are included in the squad,” the official said.
Asked whether there could be changes before the squad is finalised, the official said several new names have been included in the preliminary list this season. The final squad is expected to be confirmed before Sylhet’s camp begins in the first half of September.
“This year’s squad is not exactly the same as last year’s. There are a few new faces. The squad will be finalised before our preparation camp,” he said.
The coaching setup is also expected to remain largely unchanged, with Rajin Saleh set to continue as head coach and Robiul Islam Shiblu as pace bowling coach, while the rest of the panel is yet to be confirmed.
Last season, Sylhet won two and lost five of their seven matches.
