A suspected mugger was killed after being accidentally shot by an accomplice during an attempted mugging in Dighalia upazila of Khulna early Friday morning.
Police and local sources said the incident occurred while a group of assailants attempted to snatch money from a businessman, Tahidul Islam.
During the incident, the attackers opened fire, but the bullet missed its target and instead struck one of their own group members, killing him.
Tahidul Islam was injured in the incident. Further details regarding his condition were not immediately available.
Police said the identity of the deceased individual has yet to be confirmed, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the attempted robbery.
