Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan has become the latest former cricketer to speak publicly in support of Imran Khan.

Moin posted a video on his X account calling on the Pakistan government to ensure proper treatment for the former Pakistan captain and Prime Minister. He also urged other Pakistani cricketers to speak up for Imran.

“Imran Khan is very unwell,” Moin said. “I appeal to the government of Pakistan that Imran be granted his rights as a former Prime Minister and citizen of Pakistan with regards to his treatment.”

Moin also called on Pakistan’s cricket community to stand behind Imran.

“I also appeal to all Pakistan cricketers to raise their voice in support of Imran. Those of us who played with him learned a lot from him, and he gave Pakistan cricket so much.”

Moin’s comments came after former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad publicly spoke about Imran’s imprisonment.

Miandad is one of the biggest names from Pakistan cricket to openly raise his voice over Imran’s current situation. The former batter played alongside Imran for many years and was a key member of the Pakistan team under his captaincy.

Speaking in an emotional interview on the Narratives podcast, Miandad called for Imran’s release and urged the Pakistan government to resolve its differences with him.

“I pray that what’s going on with him gets resolved, because he does not deserve this,” Miandad said. “What’s being done to him is not right. It’s unnecessary. He has a family too.”

Imran has been in prison since August 2023.

Miandad also spoke about his close relationship with his former teammate. He said he often thinks about what Imran is going through in prison.

“I think about it all the time, what he must be doing [in prison], what he must be thinking of. We were so close. We used to be together and think so much of each other. We took Pakistan to such new heights. I can’t help but feel so sad about it.”

Other former Pakistan cricketers have spoken about their respect for Imran over the years. Ramiz Raja has also discussed his health on the Stick to Cricket podcast.

However, Miandad’s comments stand out because of his stature in Pakistan cricket and because he directly addressed Imran’s imprisonment. Moin has now followed him with a public appeal of his own.
