Mitford murder: Two more placed on remand

A court in Dhaka has placed two more accused on a three-day remand each in a case filed over the killing of scrap metal trader Sohag near Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqur Rahman passed the remand order for Md Pervej and Jahirul Islam as police produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand for each.

Police arrested them from Keraniganj on Wednesday morning. With this, a total of 11 individuals were arrested in the case.

The accused of the case are- Mahmudul Hasan Mahin, Titon Gazi, Md Alamgir, Monir alias Lomba Monir, Tarek Rahman Robin, Sajib Bepari, Rajib Bepari, Nannu Kazi, Rizwan Uddin, Md Pervej and Md Jahirul Islam.

On July 9, Lal Chand alias Sohag, 39, a scrap metal trader, was hacked and beaten to death in broad daylight at Mitford Hospital gate

Following the incident, the victim’s elder sister filed a murder case with the Kotwali police station.
