At least two people, including a Bangladeshi national, were killed after a missile struck a residential building in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
A projectile hit a residential compound in the Al-Kharj administrative area of Riyadh province, situated approximately 80 kilometres south-east of the capital, Riyadh.
According to Al Jazeera, citing Saudi Civil Defence authorities, the strike resulted in the deaths of one Bangladeshi and one Indian national, while at least 12 others sustained injuries.
The incident occurred as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran previously announced it had carried out strikes on several locations in Saudi Arabia, specifically targeting radar systems in Al-Kharj.
However, neither Saudi nor Iranian authorities have yet confirmed whether the missile involved in this specific fatal incident was of Iranian origin.
Regional tensions have escalated significantly since 28 February, following attacks by the United States and Israel that resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Since then, Iran has initiated retaliatory strikes against Israeli targets and US military installations across Gulf nations. In related developments, Iran also targeted the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia and the US Consulate in Dubai on Tuesday.
