Bangladesh could not chase Afghanistan’s target of 191 runs in the second ODI. The team’s weak batting cost Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s side the series, even with one match left. Their aim to climb the ODI rankings is now at risk.
Captain Miraz showed his frustration after the heavy defeat. Bangladesh were all out for just 109 runs. They lost by 81 runs to Rashid Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai.
After the match, a disappointed Miraz said, “We bowled very well and could have chased this target. But our batting was very poor today.”
Miraz pointed to careless batting as the main reason for the loss. He said the team could not build partnerships even after good starts. “I told them we needed partnerships in the top order, but we failed. We start well, but when it is time to take responsibility, we do not. Our batters are not taking enough responsibility,” he added.
With the series already lost, Bangladesh now aims to avoid a whitewash. “We are very disappointed, but we still have one match left. After that, we have another series, and we need to think about how to come back stronger,” Miraz said.
He also highlighted the need to improve batting in ODIs. “We must improve our batting. If we do not score runs, we cannot survive in one-day cricket,” he said.
