The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned of strong winds and rain or thundershowers in eight regions by Friday evening.
The warning, issued for inland river ports and valid until 6pm on Friday, said gusty or squally winds may blow temporarily over Rangpur, Dinajpur, Mymensingh, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.
Wind speeds may reach 45 to 60 kilometres per hour from the west or north-west direction, the bulletin said. It also warned of rain or thundershowers in these areas.
The Met Office said river ports in these regions have been advised to hoist Signal No 1 from 8am to 6pm as a precautionary measure.
The advisory repeated that squally weather conditions, along with rain or thunder, may affect the eight districts during the period.
Authorities have been asked to stay alert as the weather system may cause temporary disruption in the affected regions.
