Bangladeshi band Meghdol is marking its 23rd year with new music and plans for a special concert, as the group moves towards completing its third studio album.
The band confirmed that three new songs will be released in phases, bringing their album ‘Aluminium Er Dana’ to a close. Titled ‘Carnival’, ‘Bagh’ and ‘Tare Kothay Khuje Pai’, the tracks are currently in post-production, with video work underway.
Singer and lyricist Shibu Kumar Shil said the releases coincide with the band’s anniversary but are primarily intended to complete the album. He performs and writes Carnival, while the lyrics and composition of Bagh and Tare Kothay Khuje Pai are by band member Mezbaur Rahman Sumon. Bagh will be released first, followed by the other two songs.
While Meghdol is not planning large-scale celebrations for the anniversary, the band has announced a special solo concert after Eid. Shil also revealed that the group is preparing a live album to mark two decades of their journey, with work expected to begin next year.
Aluminium Er Dana has already drawn strong attention from listeners. The track ‘E Hawa’, released in 2022, gained wide popularity after being featured in Sumon’s film ‘Hawa’.
The album’s title track was released in 2023, the same year the band appeared on Coke Studio Bangla with the song ‘Bonbibi’.
