Five children died of measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am on Friday, raising the total number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in Bangladesh to 960 this year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified all five latest fatalities as suspected measles deaths.
With the new deaths, the number of suspected measles-related fatalities has increased to 861, while confirmed measles deaths remain unchanged at 99.
During the same 24-hour period, 1,100 new suspected measles cases were reported across the country, taking the total number of suspected cases to 154,792.
Meanwhile, 70 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed infections nationwide to 18,796.
According to DGHS data, a total of 135,473 patients with suspected measles have been admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh since 15 March this year. Of them, 130,457 patients have recovered.
