Real Madrid’s French forward Kylian Mbappe missed training on Tuesday, ahead of his team’s crucial Champions League tie against Manchester City.
The 26-year-old broke a finger during Sunday’s 2-0 La Liga defeat to Celta Vigo, and the club confirmed his absence was due to that injury, as well as other discomforts he experienced during the match.
Mbappe has been instrumental for Madrid this season, scoring 25 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions.
Spanish media have reported that a loss to City could put coach Xabi Alonso under intense pressure, with suggestions that it might even lead to his dismissal.
His potential absence would therefore be a major blow for Los Blancos ahead of Wednesday’s game.
