Max, Min and Meowzaki will arrive in cinemas across India on 24 July, with Platoon One Films handling its theatrical distribution.
Director Padmakumar Narasimhamurthy premiered the Hindi and English-language film at the Busan International Film Festival. The film later secured a place in the Best of Fest line-up at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and also screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala, reported on Variety.
The film has enjoyed a successful festival run. It received audience awards at the Sonoma International Film Festival and the Osaka Asian Film Festival. It also won the Best Feature award at the Stuttgart Indian Film Festival, the Cincinnati Indian Film Festival, Indo-German Film Week in Berlin and the Regina International Film Festival and Awards in Canada.
Narasimhamurthy, who previously directed A Billion Colour Story, has teamed up with producers Samiksha Oswal and Shael Oswal of SSO Productions for the project.
The story follows three generations of the Mahadevan family after each man unexpectedly finds himself single. It explores relationships, family bonds, differing ideologies, sexuality, therapy and healing. A cat named after celebrated Japanese filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki also plays a key role in the narrative.
The film stars Adil Hussain, Mandira Bedi, Nassar, Nafisa Ali, Siddharth Menon, Medha Shankr and Vidhatri Bandi. Acclaimed animation filmmaker Gitanjali Rao also makes a cameo appearance.
