CFA Society Bangladesh has elected Bank Asia Deputy Managing Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Mahtab Osmani as its president for a two-year term beginning Wednesday, succeeding EDGE Asset Management Company (AMC) Chairman Asif Khan.

The society announced the new office bearers in a press release on Wednesday.

Osmani, who most recently served as a director of the society, will lead the association of investment professionals for the next two years.

Shanta Asset Management CEO Kazi Monirul Islam was elected vice-president, while Shanta Securities Head of Research and Strategic Planning SM Galibur Rahman became secretary. Prime Bank Investment Head of Wealth and Advisory Business Md Sakib Chowdhury was elected treasurer.

The board also includes immediate past president Asif Khan, UCB Asset Management Senior Portfolio Manager SM Samiuzzaman and LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Strategy Manager Saad Mohammed Niamatullah as directors.

CFA Society Bangladesh is the local member society of CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals. The society brings together CFA charterholders and investment professionals from banks, asset managers, regulators and corporates.

Its activities include promoting ethics and professionalism in the investment industry, advancing education in finance and investment, engaging with policymakers and regulators on issues affecting the profession, and providing continuing professional development and networking opportunities for members.

The society has more than 151 CFA charterholders and about 97 associate members working across Bangladesh’s financial services industry.
