Then reality punched harder than any boxer. Hours before touchdown, the organisers quietly admitted the truth: the legends were never coming. They blamed “financial constraints,” but the excuse raised more questions than answers.
If money stood in the way, why build the hype in the first place? Why sell tickets with the faces of Cafu and Caniggia plastered everywhere? Why promise meet-and-greets and gala dinners without a single confirmed contract? The strategy looked less like ambition and more like wishful thinking dressed up as certainty.
