Khagrachari came alive on Monday as writers, poets and cultural enthusiasts gathered for a vibrant literary festival held under the theme “In the light of literature, many cultures unite in creative harmony.”
The event, organised by the District Literary Council, took place at the auditorium of the Cultural Institute of Small Ethnic Communities.
The festival was inaugurated by Khagrachari Zila Parishad Chairperson Shefalika Tripura, with Professor Bodhisattwa Dewan of Khagrachari Government College presiding over the session.
As part of the inauguration, the third series of the literary periodical “Giridhara” was unveiled.
In the keynote speech, poet and researcher Hafiz Rashid Khan said, “Literature is the conscience of society—it is where a humane bridge between diverse cultures is built.”
Speakers noted that nurturing literature is essential for transforming the hills’ cultural diversity into collective strength.
Special guests included Zila Parishad Chief Executive Officer Md Noman Hossain, council members Prashanta Kumar Tripura and Shahidul Islam Sumon, retired Bangladesh Bank deputy general manager Dinmoy Rwoaza and institute Director Nyo Hla Mung.
The programme was conducted by Yusuf Adnan, general secretary of the District Literary Council.
