Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO) has deposited Tk25.40 crore into the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation as part of its commitment to workers’ welfare.
Industries, Commerce, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir handed over the cheque to Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury on Monday.
The handover ceremony took place at the Labour and Employment Minister’s office at the Ministry of Commerce.
Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and KAFCO Chairman Md Abdun Naser Khan, Director General of the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Mohammad Kuddus Ali Sarker, and KAFCO Chief Corporate Officer Sayedur Rahman, along with other officials, were present.
Under the Bangladesh Labour Act, local and multinational companies are required to deposit one‑tenth of 5 percent of their net profits into the labour welfare fund at the end of each year.
Since its inception, KAFCO has consistently contributed to the Labour Welfare Foundation as part of its corporate responsibility.
