A ‘warrior’ of the July Uprising has been killed in a fatal road accident in Fakirhat area of Bagerhat district.

The deceased was identified as Saiful Islam alias Sajib Sikder.

Police said Sajib met with the tragic end of his life in a motorcycle accident on Monday.

Sajib was an activist of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP, and son of Dulal Sikder from Purbo Safipur village in Bamna upazila of Barguna.

Sajib was also an employee of the PRAN company in Fakirhat of Bagerhat.

During the accident, his colleague Mahmudur Rahman, who was along with him, was also seriously injured.

Locals rescued them and took them to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex, where Sajib succumbed to his injuries.

He was buried in the family graveyard on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in his native village after the funeral prayer (janaza).

Rayhan Nazir Dhalu, joint convener of the Bamna upazila unit of Jubo Dal, said that Sajib was shot in his both legs during the July movement in Barishal.
