A Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader in Lohagara upazila of Narail has been expelled from his post over allegations of breaching organisational discipline.
The expulsion followed the circulation of a video on social media showing him consuming yaba tablets.
GM Mashrafi, publicity secretary of the Lohagara Government Adarsha College unit of Chhatra Dal, is a resident of Beparipara in Gopinathpur village under Lohagara municipality.
A press release announcing the decision was issued Monday night.
Md Mamun Gazi, member secretary of the Narail District Chhatra Dal, also confirmed the expulsion.
The video and photos drew widespread discussion and criticism online. The exact location where the footage was recorded could not be determined.
Attempts to contact Mashrafi for comment were unsuccessful.
