Jamuna Bank PLC organised a training programme on the implementation of Expected Credit Loss (ECL) under International Financial Reporting Standard 9 (IFRS-9) at its Training Academy in Gulshan-1, Dhaka.

The programme was inaugurated by Jamuna Bank Managing Director and CEO Mirza Elias Uddin Ahmed, who highlighted the importance of IFRS-9-compliant credit risk management and forward-looking loss assessment to support regulatory compliance and capital adequacy.

The training was conducted by Abdur Rahman, manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers Bangladesh, who presented the IFRS-9 framework and ECL implementation requirements.

According to the bank, the session covered ECL modelling methodology, staging criteria under Stage-1, Stage-2 and Stage-3, probability of default, loss given default, exposure at default, data requirements and practical implementation issues in line with Bangladesh Bank guidelines.

Senior management officials attended the session, including Jamuna Bank Additional Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Md Abdus Salam, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer Md Shahidul Islam, and Deputy Managing Director and Head of Wholesale Banking Division Md Jahangir Alam.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Bangladesh Director Sayaqua Moslem was also present.

A total of 41 officials from the head office and branches participated in the training, representing multiple functional divisions of the bank.

Jamuna Bank said the programme aims to strengthen institutional capacity for IFRS-9-compliant ECL implementation and improve accuracy and transparency in credit risk management and financial reporting.
