Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has urged its leaders, activists and people nationwide to make the 5 September Dhaka-Chattogram long march a success.
The programme is part of its campaign to implement the referendum verdict and build a discrimination-free Bangladesh.
The call was made at a meeting of the party’s Long March Implementation Committee held at Jamaat’s central office in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on Monday.
According to the previously announced programme of the 11-party alliance on August 6, four long marches will be organised across the country.
The Dhaka-Chattogram long march will be held on Saturday, 5 September, followed by the Dhaka-Rangpur long march on Saturday, 19 September, Dhaka-Khulna on Saturday, 10 October, and Dhaka-Sylhet on Saturday, 24 October.
The Chattogram, Rangpur and Khulna long marches will be conducted by road, while the Sylhet long march will take place by rail.
A grand rally is scheduled to be held in Dhaka on November 14 after the completion of the long march programmes.
