In a press release, Islami Andolan Bangladesh on Thursday alleged that there have been several irregularities observed at various polling centres in the country.

The press release lists a series of issues they have recorded between 12 noon and 2pm on during the election.

They were as follows:

In many centers in Bhola-1, Islami Andolan claims, voting took place ahead of schedule. In addition, various centres in the Patuakhali-4 constituency, BNP supporters obstructed and attacked leaders and activists of the Hand Fan (Islami Andolan) symbol.

Additionally, at the Mohipur Memorial School and College centre, polling agents were beaten and evicted, and fake votes were being cast, the statement said.

At the Banker’s Hat Balika Secondary School centre in Ward No 1 of Veduria Union under the Bhola-1 constituency, female agents of Jamaat-e-Islami were forcibly taking seals from women voters and stamping them with their own party’s symbol.

In North Digholdi, Ward No 7, under the Bhola-1 constituency, the election agent of the candidate from Islami Andolan Bangladesh, the district secretary of the Bhola North unit, along with the observation team, were held besieged for a long time by local BNP leaders and activists. They were later rescued through the intervention of the army.

At centres No 60 and 61 in Char Kalmi Union under the Bhola-4 parliamentary constituency, leaders and activists of Islami Andolan were attacked by BNP for resisting vote rigging. Several individuals were seriously injured and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

In Raipura, Narsingdi-5, an agent of Islami Andolan was beaten, bloodied, and evicted from the centre by BNP for resisting vote theft. No role was observed by the local administration in this matter.

Jhalokathi-01: In Baraiya Union under Rajapur Thana, agents are not being allowed to sit; workers have been stabbed and injured, and beaten and chased away from centres. Threats have been delivered to the homes of agents.

The local administration has been informed of these matters, the release said. Written complaints will also be submitted to the chief election commissioner in Dhaka.

“Islami Andolon calls upon the administration to perform its duties more strictly and impartially for the remainder of the time,” it concludes.
