Bangladesh’s automobile, agro-machinery, and light engineering sectors are demonstrating the country’s industrial potential and capacity, Industry Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan said while inaugurating a two-day fair titled “Automobiles and Agro-Machinery Fair 2025 – Road to Made in Bangladesh” at Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Friday.
“These sectors are among the government’s priority areas, contributing significantly to export diversification, employment generation, and overall economic growth,” Khan said.
“The government aims to establish the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ brand as a global symbol of excellence.
To achieve this, we must focus on expanding manufacturing-based industries, promoting technology transfer, encouraging research and innovation, and building a skilled workforce,” he said.
Such fairs boost investor confidence and open new avenues for business opportunities, he added.
Industry Secretary Md Obaidur Rahman, the special guest at the inauguration, said the sectors are making a “significant contribution to the country’s development.”
He reaffirmed that the Ministry of Industries is working to develop an industrially advanced Bangladesh and strengthen skilled human resources.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Bangladesh Chamber of Industries President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury Parvez.
Also present were SME Foundation Managing Director Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Dr M Abu Yusuf, agro-technology entrepreneur Alimuzzaman Chowdhury, and Abdur Razzak.
During the seminar, keynote speaker Dr M Masrur Riaz highlighted the current status, growth trajectory, and future priorities of the automobile, agro-machinery, and light engineering sectors using data-driven analysis.
Following the inauguration, Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan visited the fair’s stalls, interacting with participating entrepreneurs and exchanging views on investment opportunities and sectoral development.
