The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has granted permission to display evidence seized by the prosecution in crimes against humanity cases linked to the July 2024 uprising at the July Uprising Memorial Museum for one month.
The order was passed on Wednesday by Tribunal-1 following an application filed by the prosecution, Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim told reporters.
According to the prosecution, the exhibits include bullets, firearms, blood-stained clothing and chairs allegedly used in acts of torture, which were seized in connection with several cases currently pending before the tribunal.
The museum, set up at the former official residence of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, commonly known as Gono Bhaban, is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 20.
Following the mass uprising on August 5, 2024, the interim government decided to convert Gono Bhaban, located in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area, into the July Uprising Memorial Museum to preserve the memories of the movement.
