Tawhid Hridoy moved up two places to 37th in the latest ICC T20 batting rankings after scoring runs in Bangladesh’s series against New Zealand.
Hridoy now holds 559 rating points following consistent contributions across the series. He led Bangladesh’s batting charts and took the player of the series award despite the team failing to win the contest.
Bangladesh won the first match by six wickets. Hridoy sealed that chase with an unbeaten 51 off 27 balls. He added 57 runs for the fourth wicket with Parvez Hossain Emon, who scored 28. Hridoy then built a 49-run stand for the fifth wicket with Shamim Hossain Patowary to close the game.
Rain washed out the second match. New Zealand won the third match by six wickets to level the series. Hridoy scored 33 off 24 balls in that game, again holding the middle order together through the chase phase.
Bangladesh relied on Hridoy to manage tempo in both matches he batted. He rotated strike early, then targeted specific bowlers once set. His partnerships at four and five wickets shaped both innings and reduced pressure on the lower order.
The latest rankings update reflects that output, with Hridoy gaining ground among T20 batters after a short series.
