The Government Purchase Advisory Council Committee has approved 10 procurement proposals amounting to over Tk34,000 crore in its first meeting for 2026 on Tuesday. The proposals span multiple sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, energy, and infrastructure.
Among the approvals, a direct procurement proposal for vaccines under the Asia Pacific Vaccines Access Facility project was granted, though the value remains undisclosed.
The committee also greenlighted the import of 40,000 metric tons of bulk granular urea from Saudi Arabian SABIC Agri-nutrients Company at Tk191.41 crore.
Additionally, the purchase of 10 million metric tons of lentils from Chattogram-based M/S Payel Automatic Food Processing Mills at Tk71.87 crore was approved.
The import of 135.75 million liters of refined soybean oil from Thai Prime Corp World Company Limited at Tk178.47 crore was also approved by the committee.
In the energy sector, the committee approved the import of refined petroleum products worth Tk10,826.11 crore from various suppliers under government-to-government agreements. These listed suppliers include Chinese PetroChina, UAE’s ENOC, Indian IOCL, OQT, PILLCL, BSP, and UNIPEC.
Furthermore, the import of 7.00 lakh metric tons of Marban grade crude oil for Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL) from UAE’s ADNOC at Tk5,542.86 crore and 8.00 lakh metric tons of Arabian Light Crude oil from Saudi Arabian SAUDI ARAMCO at Tk6,320.22 crore were approved.
The committee also approved the import of 1.80 lakh metric tons of diesel from Indian Numaligarh Refinery at Tk1,461.76 crore.
In terms of infrastructure, the committee recommended approval for the construction of a Pump House, Guard Shed, and other facilities under the Bangladesh Folk Art and Crafts Foundation project at Tk31.88 crore.
Additionally, the construction of a 6-storied Academic Circle Building for Bangladesh Maritime University in Chattogram was recommended for approval at Tk158.87 crore.
