A burglary occurred at a jewellery shop in Patuakhali’s Sadar Road Notun Bazar area, with goods worth about Tk15 lakh stolen.
The theft took place at “New Shatarupa Sona Ghar” (Shatarupa Jewellers), located in front of National Bank in New Market.
Shop owner Sonai Karmakar said his store produced and sold ornaments of 18, 21 and 22 carats. The gang took 5–6 bhori of gold, 50 bhori of silver, and various rings and nose pins, with an estimated market value of Tk15 lakh.
Local traders said they now face severe insecurity. They demanded arrests and permanent night patrols in the market area.
Patuakhali Police Station Sub‑Inspector Rasel said the gang left no evidence at the scene, making it a “clueless” case.
Police have begun an intensive operation, analysing nearby CCTV footage and using advanced technology to identify the culprits and recover the looted items.
