After seven consecutive declines, gold prices in Bangladesh have risen again, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).
The price of 22-carat gold, the highest quality, increased by Tk2,157 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing it to Tk2,37,012 per bhori.
BAJUS announced that the new rates came into effect on Saturday at 10am, following a review of local market prices for pure gold.
The decision was made during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on pricing and price monitoring, and was confirmed in a notice signed by committee chairman Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
Along with 22-carat gold, the price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk2,26,281 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk1,93,914 per bhori, and traditional gold at Tk157,930 per bhori.
While gold prices have risen, silver rates have remained unchanged in the domestic market.
Currently, 22-carat silver is being sold at Tk5,365 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk5,132 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk4,432 per bhori, and traditional silver at Tk3,324 per bhori.
BAJUS officials said the increase reflects higher local prices for pure gold and represents an adjustment to align retail rates with market conditions.
