Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) GKM Mustafizur Rahman said the university aims to become a global hub where international students can study safely and with dignity while sharing their cultures and experiences.
He made the remarks at a training and exchange programme for international students from Pakistan, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Nepal, enrolled in BS, MS and PhD programmes, held at the university’s IQAC seminar room on 27 August, said a press release Saturday.
Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Nurul Karim Bhuiyan, Treasurer Sofiqul Islam Afrad, Proctor Mohammad Saiful Alam, International Affairs Director Amjad Hossain, Associate Director Shafiqul Alam, and IQAC Director Nasreen Akhtar Ivy attended as discussants.
Bhuiyan spoke on joint efforts between the district administration and the university to keep the campus green and pollution-free, referencing the government’s five-year tree plantation programme.
Students shared their campus experiences, expectations and challenges during an open discussion session. University officials assured them of necessary initiatives based on their feedback.
Registrar Abdullah Mridha, Additional Deputy Commissioner M Rokibul Hasan, Assistant Commissioner Arif Hossain and Student Welfare Director Sharif Rayhan were also present.
