A fire broke out at a garments factory in North Kattali of Chattogram city on Wednesday morning.
The blaze started at the factory warehouse of HB Fashions Ltd around 9:40am and was brought under control within an hour by firefighters.
Alamgir Hossain, deputy assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (Chattogram region), told TIMES of Bangladesh that the fire originated in the ground‑floor warehouse of the four‑storey building.
Two units of firefighters managed to douse the flames. However, no casualties were reported.
He said goods worth around Tk15,000 were damaged during the incident.
Earlier, around 11:30 pm on Tuesday, a fire erupted at a warehouse of another garment factory in the BSCIC Industrial Area of Kalurghat. Firefighters managed to bring that blaze under control after several hours of work.
On 24 November, a blanket warehouse in Chattogram’s Kadamtali caught fire, prompting eight Fire Service units to respond. The Fire Service has not yet formed an investigation committee regarding that incident.
