Former state minister for education under the BNP government ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon was stopped from leaving the country at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
He was scheduled to fly to Bangkok at 11am by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight for medical treatment.
Airport immigration authorities said he was prevented from travelling abroad due to an active travel restriction. The information was confirmed by the immigration section’s supervising officer.
Responding to query, Milon told TIMES of Bangladesh, “I went to the airport carrying my old passport, which does not have my name listed as ‘Milon’. It was my mistake that caused me to be turn back.”
