Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested former secretary Abu Alam Md Shahid Khan from the capital’s Eskaton area early Monday.
He was picked up around 2:30am and later shown arrested in a case filed with Shahbagh Police Station, confirmed Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), reports BSS.
In a separate drive, DB also detained five leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its associate bodies from different parts of Dhaka over the past 24 hours.
According to police, they were arrested for bringing out sudden processions in the capital with the aim of creating unrest and destabilizing the country.
