Former official of Rapid Action Battalion(RAB) Mohammad Sohail was arrested over charges of abduction and torture. International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Wednesday showed former RAB official Rear Admiral (Retd) Mohammad Sohail arrested in a case filed over abduction, torture and enforced disappearance.
The three-member tribunal-1, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order and sent Sohail, former Legal and Media Wing Director of the elite force RAB, back to jail. The court also set September 15 for submitting probe report in the case. On April 15 of 2025, the first tribunal had ordered to produce Sohail before it.
Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam moved the case before the tribunal, while Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua stood for the accused. Mohammad Sohail, who previously served as chairman of both the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) and Payra Port Authority, was reportedly sent into forced retirement after the fall of the Awami League government. He was later arrested in connection with gruesome incidents of enforced disappearance.
