A Dhaka court has shown former central Jubo Mohila League assistant secretary for international affairs Khadija Akter Shilpi arrested in a murder case filed over the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ariful Islam passed the order on Tuesday following a police petition.
Public prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon confirmed the matter.
According to case documents, the anti-discrimination student movement began in July 2024 demanding reforms to the government job quota system, with protesters holding programmes across the country.
The case statement alleges that attacks and crackdowns were carried out on protesters as part of efforts to suppress the movement, following directives and instigation from senior leaders of the then Awami League government.
On 19 July, protesters were holding a peaceful sit-in programme in front of the Fire Service office at Mirpur-10 when they came under attack. According to the allegations, gunfire was opened targeting protesters in a pre-planned attack carried out under the direct and indirect instructions of the accused.
Sajib was killed in the incident. A murder case was later filed with Mirpur Model Police Station over the killing.
Khadija Akter Shilpi has been shown arrested as a suspected accused in the case.
