Najmul Hossain Shanto’s blistering century in the opening match of the Bangladesh Premier League has not only given Rajshahi Warriors a flying start but has also created pressure on Bangladesh’s T20 contenders ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup.
Despite being outside the national T20 setup since May 2025, Shanto’s unbeaten 101 against Sylhet Titans has reignited discussions around selection. His innings overshadowed Parvez Hossain Emon’s 65 off 33 balls, which helped Sylhet post 190.
Speaking after the match, Emon admitted that Shanto’s performance does add pressure, “Pressure, pressure…it should seen as healthy competition.”
“If our national team wants good results, this is very important. When no spot feels fixed, the team performs better,” Emon said.
Shanto was named Player of the Match as Rajshahi chased down the target with eight wickets in hand, underlining his statement performance at the start of BPL 12.
