The government is considering reopening higher secondary (HSC) classes at Dhaka’s historic Eden Women’s College.
The Ministry of Education has instructed the college authorities to submit a proposal through the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) to initiate the process.
The directive, signed by Kazi Nurul Islam, Deputy Secretary (additional charge) of the Government Colleges Branch under the Secondary and Higher Education Division, was issued on 25 March. A copy has been sent to the principal of Eden Women’s College via the DSHE.
The ministry has requested key information to evaluate the proposal. Officials want to know when and why the college had previously suspended higher secondary teaching. They also seek details on whether reopening HSC classes would require additional government funding.
The principal has been asked to submit a comprehensive proposal with the requested information through the DSHE for further consideration.
