Eastern Bank PLC celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 at its head office in Dhaka, bringing together women professionals to discuss leadership, workplace inclusion, and women’s participation in the economy.
The programme was organised to recognise the contributions of women in the workplace and society, according to a press release.
Paragon Group Chairman Yasmin Rahman said entrusting capable women with leadership roles creates a level playing field and can help reverse the declining participation of women in the corporate workforce.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines Captain Shumeila Hussain said women must prioritise personal well-being alongside professional and family responsibilities.
PRAN-RFL Group Director Uzma Chowdhury said women make up 45 per cent of the group’s factory workforce and demonstrate commitment, resilience, and strong work ethics in their roles.
Centre for Policy Dialogue Executive Director Fahmida Khatun said women’s representation at the mid-management level remains low in Bangladesh and increasing participation at that tier is essential for economic growth.
Eastern Bank PLC Managing Director Ali Reza Iftekhar said the bank remains committed to promoting gender equality and expanding women’s leadership across the organisation.
Female employees from different departments attended the programme, which concluded with an interactive discussion on women’s leadership and workplace inclusion.
