A total of 125 candidates have collected nomination papers ahead of the final day of distribution for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election. On Sunday alone, 64 candidates collected their forms.
The information was confirmed by the Chief Returning Officer, Professor Mohammad Jasim Uddin, at a briefing held on the third floor of the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building in the afternoon.
On the sixth day, among the 64 candidates, 4–5 collected papers for the post of vice president (VP), one for general secretary (GS), three for assistant general secretary (AGS), 23 for various editorial positions, and 32 for member positions.
For hall parliament elections, a total of 108 candidates have so far collected nomination forms from 18 residential halls of the university.
So far, 38 candidates have submitted their nomination papers, including 25 on Sunday.
Professor Jasim Uddin said, “Tomorrow is the final day for collecting nomination papers. We expect all interested students to collect their forms by then.”
He also mentioned that if any student has been unfairly excluded from the voter list, they will be included through a review committee.
Regarding the number of polling centres, he added that discussions are ongoing, and a decision will be announced soon.
Candidates can collect nomination papers on Monday between 10am and 4pm, while submission will remain open until August 19 at 3pm.
The final list of candidates will be published on August 26, and for the first time, the DUCSU election will be held outside residential halls on September 9.
