Mustafizur Rahman has secured a place in the upcoming International League T20, with Dubai Capitals bringing the Bangladeshi left-arm seamer back into their squad just weeks before the tournament begins.
The franchise originally signed Mustafizur as a replacement for England pacer Luke Wood ahead of the IL T20 auction, only to cancel the deal shortly afterwards and recruit Haider Ali instead. However, roughly a month on, Dubai have turned to Mustafizur once more, finalising a fresh agreement ahead of the new season, which starts on 2 December. The seamer also has experience with the franchise’s IPL sister team, Delhi Capitals.
From the auction, Shakib Al Hasan was picked up by MI Emirates for his base price of USD 40,000, while Taskin Ahmed was signed by Sharjah Warriors for USD 80,000. This means three Bangladeshi players are set to feature in the IL T20’s upcoming edition.
The Bangladesh Premier League is also expected to take place in December, though dates are yet to be confirmed. Shakib is certain to play in the IL T20, having not appeared in the BPL for a year. Taskin and Mustafizur’s full availability will depend on no-objection certificates from the Bangladesh Cricket Board, with the scheduling of the BPL also likely to influence any decision.
Separately, the BCB has already granted Rishad Hossain permission to participate in the Big Bash League, which will run at the same time.
