Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Safiqul Islam Khan has personally apprehended and handed over two individuals to the police for their involvement in a long-standing tender manipulation syndicate.
The incident occurred on Saturday, in the Rupnagar area under DNCC Zone-5. The suspects were handed over to Rupnagar Police Station after being caught red-handed following an investigation into allegations of illegal financial transactions.
According to a press release from the DNCC Public Relations Department, a fraudulent group has been involved in illegal dealings by promising to secure contracts through tender notices published on the DNCC website.
During the handover, the DNCC administrator said a circle had been using his name to solicit illegal payments for DNCC tenders. He clarified that none of his relatives or associates are involved in such activities.
He emphasised that since taking charge of the DNCC, he has not indulged in any tender manipulation or illegal acts. He urged city residents to remain alert and called for anyone found using his name for illegal purposes to be apprehended and handed over to the law.
