Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the operator of Dhaka Metro Rail, on Monday signed an agreement with Bangla Trac Group’s digital mobility platform Carcopolo to introduce a GPS-based Vehicle Telematics System (VTS) for improving fleet management of its official vehicles.
The agreement was signed at the DMTCL head office by Director (Operation and Maintenance) of DMTCL Mohammed Nazrul Islam, and CEO of Thane Systems of Carcopolo M Tanvir Siddique, said a press release.
Under the agreement, Carcopolo will provide advanced VTS and fleet management services to enable real-time vehicle tracking, route monitoring, trip history analysis, driver behaviour monitoring and centralised fleet management for DMTCL’s vehicles.
The system is expected to help DMTCL improve operational efficiency, optimise resource utilisation, enhance vehicle visibility and support data-driven decision-making as part of efforts to modernise fleet management practices in Bangladesh’s public transport sector.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Tanvir said the partnership would support smarter transportation management by using technology-driven mobility solutions to improve fleet efficiency and operational transparency.
The agreement was signed in the presence of senior officials from both organisations, including DMTCL General Manager (Store & Procurement) Mohammad Asaduzzaman, Deputy General Manager (Store & Procurement) AKM Sorwar Alam, B-Trac Solutions Head of Projects Safayet Abdullah, Strategic Account Manager Fazle Fahim Khan, Key Account Manager Md Moheuddin and Engineer (Implementation & Support) Md Jahid Hasan.
According to the press release, the initiative reflects a broader move towards adopting digital technologies in Bangladesh’s transport sector by improving vehicle security, monitoring and operational control.
