Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday arrested two drug dealers with eight kilograms of cannabis in the capital’s Hatirjheel area.
A team from DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit conducted the operation and arrested Mukta Akter, 27, and Md Sultan, 22, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman.
He disclosed the information in a press release issued Tuesday night.
Acting on a tip-off, a raid was carried out around 7:30 pm in Hatirjheel’s West Rampura, leading to their arrests. Eight kilograms of cannabis were recovered from them, he said in the release.
The investigation revealed that two drug cases are pending against Mukta in Cumilla and Cox’s Bazar police stations. CTTC members suspect that the duo had been supplying drugs to various areas of the capital for a long time.
DMP stated that anti-drug drives are ongoing and such operations will be further intensified.
