Dhaka Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office will launch the “Hello DC” mobile application next week to make its services more accessible to citizens across the district and allow complaints to be submitted online.
Speaking to BSS, DC Farida Khanam said the service will operate from 9am to 1pm, enabling citizens to report problems via phone through the app, with prompt action taken on each issue.
The app will allow users to submit complaints, access emergency information, receive guidance on certificates, obtain land and administrative details, inquire about social safety net programmes, and report local problems directly to authorities.
“If the district administration is unable to resolve a complaint received over the phone, the complainant will be informed immediately,” she added.
Farida Khanam said the app will play a key role in bringing the services of the DC Office closer to ordinary people. Currently, citizens often have to wait for long periods and visit multiple offices even for minor government-related tasks, and in many cases face harassment due to lack of information. This technology-based initiative aims to reduce such difficulties.
Although various government services were previously introduced online, they were not available on a single platform. The “Hello DC” app is expected to remove this limitation, increasing the speed of service delivery while ensuring transparency and accountability. Complaints and applications will reach concerned officials directly, and citizens will be able to monitor their progress.
Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam expressed hope that the “Hello DC” app will become popular among the public. She added that the app will reduce corruption and limit the influence of middlemen in administrative services, as citizens will be able to submit applications and track their status directly from their mobile phones.
