The second day of Dhaka Auto Series 2026 drew heavy crowds, with strong interest across vehicle segments and emerging mobility options.
The surge in footfall during the weekend turned the exhibition into a busy marketplace for cars, motorcycles, electric vehicles, and auto components.
The event, organised by CEMS-Global USA, brings together multiple shows under one platform, including the Dhaka Motor Show, Dhaka Bike Show, EV Expo, Dhaka Auto Parts Show, and the Dhaka Commercial Automotive Show.
More than 70 companies from over 10 countries are participating in the event, occupying around 200 booths.
Sport utility vehicles (SUVs) remained the most sought-after segment among four-wheeler buyers, drawing strong attention from potential customers.
Basundhara resident Rubel Hasan said he booked a vehicle at the expo to take advantage of event-based discounts.
“I booked a vehicle here. I got some discount because of the expo offer,” he said.
“SUVs are the trend now. If you are thinking about comfort and family use, you have to go for SUVs,” he added.
Interest in electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids was also visible, although concerns over charging infrastructure continued to affect buying decisions.
Banani resident Shafqat Rahman said EVs represent the future, but infrastructure gaps remain a concern.
“EVs are the future. But since public charging stations are still not widely available, many people hesitate due to range anxiety. I am also a bit unsure. However, brands here are offering home charger installation, which is a positive,” he said.
Motorcycle stalls recorded strong footfall, particularly for higher-capacity models, with visitors queuing for test rides.
Basundhara resident Masud Ahmed said he was exploring higher-capacity motorcycles for the first time.
“I have never ridden a higher-cc bike before. Since these models were only recently approved for wider use, brands are still introducing new models. If I like the ride, I will decide,” he said.
Electric scooters and motorcycles also attracted attention, driven by rising fuel costs and growing interest in alternative mobility solutions.
Adabor resident Rakib Ahmed said fuel concerns are influencing his interest in electric mobility.
“Given the ongoing fuel situation, switching to electric bikes seems like a good idea. I am planning to buy a scooter with a removable battery. I have visited several stalls but have not decided yet,” he said.
A Chinese visitor Huang said the diversity of brands and products on display was impressive.
“I am enjoying the expo. It is very impressive to see so many brands and segments represented here,” he said.
Financial institutions also set up booths offering vehicle financing, while lubricant, tyre, battery, and EV charging equipment brands displayed their latest products.
The exhibition will continue until Saturday, remaining open daily from 10 am to 7 pm.
