Dengue: 244 infected in 24hrs

At least 244 new dengue cases were recorded across the country in the 24 hours till Tuesday morning, according to data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

This brings the total number of dengue infections to 6,466.

No new deaths were reported in last 24 hours, with the official death toll remaining at 30.

Of the new cases, Barishal division reported the highest number with 138 infections. In Dhaka, 32 cases were reported under the Dhaka South City Corporation, and four under Dhaka North. The remaining cases were reported from other parts of the country.

As of Tuesday morning, some 738 dengue patients were undergoing treatment in different hospitals nationwide, including 549 from outside Dhaka, according to DGHS data.

A total of 209 dengue patients were released from hospitals in the past 24 hours. Since January 1, some 5,618 patients have been released.

Last year, Bangladesh witnessed a record 575 dengue-related deaths.
