DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on becoming Prime Minister after the party’s decisive victory in the 13th National Parliament election, while urging swift reforms in the financial sector.
In a statement on Wednesday, DBA President Saiful Islam conveyed greetings to the Prime Minister and the newly formed cabinet.
The association said the 12 February election reflected public trust in Tarique Rahman and his party.
It said delivering sustainable economic growth will require a strong, transparent and accountable financial system anchored by a credible capital market.
DBA flagged long-standing structural weaknesses, governance gaps and policy inconsistencies in the financial sector, calling for urgent corrective steps.
The brokers’ body urged the government to prioritise good governance, regulatory stability and investor protection, while attracting domestic and foreign investment and strengthening the capital market as a source of long-term financing.
It also called for rebuilding investor confidence and developing a technology-driven market structure.
DBA said it expects the new administration to implement election pledges related to capital market reform and signalled readiness to work closely with the government to advance necessary changes.
The association wished the Prime Minister success in steering the economy through the next phase.
